Sanctuary at Wilmington Place

Services Available

This new facility provides 63 private room nursing home beds and 31 private room residential care beds. It is located on an eight acre site near the corner of Wayne Avenue and Wilmington Pike - adjacent to the suburbs of Kettering and Oakwood.

One feature of the design is a “pod concept” of long-term care.  For residents, the “pod concept” means neighborhood living, better access to caregivers, more varied social encounters, and better access to dining, bathing and special destinations.  The design supports the appropriate staffing variations that are required.  Essentially there will be two main pods, one for assisted living, and one for nursing.  The Skilled Nursing pod incorporates a continuous hallway design with an interior courtyard.  This allows residents to walk unimpeded, without any dead-end corridors.  The interior courtyard is secure, and can easily be monitored by staff.  Nursing stations strategically placed allow optimal nursing coverage of corridors.

Resident rooms have been designed and are equipped for adequate nursing care and the comfort and privacy of the residents.  The design of the facility also considers the changes that occur in the normal aging process including changes in visual acuity, mobility, hearing, and physical impairments.  Special attention has been given to acoustics, lighting, color, and tactile stimulation.  Room layouts are uniquely designed for optimum resident privacy, and are single-occupancy with a shared bath.  Yet, staff can easily look-in on residents to assure their well being.

Wilmington has excellent therapy areas, modern therapy equipment, and energy efficient heating and air conditioning systems. This will be designed to accommodate the residents at 10 Wilmington Place as well. The new facility will also have spacious dining, activity, and lounge areas, wide corridors and doors, and will be accessible to the blind, the non-ambulatory, and the handicapped.
